Bio

Reading has always been a part of my life. Even as a small child, I took a book wherever I went like a security blanket. This love of reading led me to get a degree in English and Histvory from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. After getting my Masters degree in English Secondary Education I began my career as a classroom teacher in 2007.
While I enjoyed teaching in the traditional classroom, I decided that what's i really loved was promoting a love of reading in young people. I earned my Library Science certification from ETSU in 2014. It was shortly thereafter that I became librarian at Whitwell Elementary.
In addition to reading, I enjoy theatre, puppetry and storytelling - all of which inform my practices in the library! I have a number of hobbies and enjoy a variety of arts and crafts such as weaving, sewing, crochet and needlework.
In addition to teaching, I am in also in the process of being ordained as a priest in the Episcopal Church. I currently serve at St John the Baptist Episcopal Church in the Battle Creek community of South Pittsburg, Tennessee.
